They raised two children, a daughter Renee, and a son, Heber III. She married Heber Nothstine II on Augin Traverse City, Michigan, and shortly thereafter they moved back to Iowa where they took over the family farm. Marilyn started her 20-year nursing career in Iowa City, Iowa, then Oregon, Michigan, and lastly back home in Maquoketa, Iowa. She always wanted to be a nurse and received her RN nursing degree from the University of Iowa. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1948. Marilyn was born on Decemto Mildred and LaVerne Willey. Ray was a longtime 4-H leader, a member of the NFO and was active in the Whiting Christmas Organization. Ray enjoyed woodworking, watching baseball, music and traveling during retirement. Ray continued making his home in Whiting until moving to Sergeant Bluff in 2006. That same year, Ray and Mable moved into Whiting and he began working as a custodian at the school until retiring in the late 1970s. The family made their home on farms north of Whiting and Ray farmed for several years, retiring in 1964. To this union six children were born, Carol, Jerry, Kenny, Ron, Marilyn and Dean. 28, 1935, Ray was united in marriage to Mable Bliven. In 1934, Ray moved to Whiting and worked on a ranch north of town.


While in school, Ray pitched for the baseball team. Ray was raised in the area of his birth and he attended country school, then went to Wynot (Neb.) High School, graduating in 1931. Raymond George Fischer, son of Edward Henry and Louise Anna (Hans) Fischer, was born Aug. Saturday at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, with the Rev. Fischer, 98, of Whiting died Tuesday, Jan.
